Estimate Your Roof Replacement Cost

Icon Roofing's roof cost estimator turns your home's size, roof pitch and material into a planning range for a new roof in about a minute. The range reflects your roof's size and the material you choose. Your exact price depends on pitch, tear-off, decking condition and access, which an in-person inspection confirms.

How does the roof cost estimator work?

The roof cost estimator sizes your roof from your home’s square footage and pitch, then applies typical installed costs for the material you choose. In a few minutes you get a price range for a new roof. Use it to compare materials and plan your budget before you schedule an in-person inspection for an exact quote.

Enter your home’s living area (or your roof size if you know it), choose the pitch and stories, and pick a material, such as asphalt shingle, tile or metal. The estimator shows a range, not a single number, because some cost factors cannot be seen online.

What changes the price of a new roof?

Six things change the price of a new roof most: the size of the roof, its pitch, the material, how many layers of old roofing come off, how much decking needs repair and how easy the roof is to reach. The estimator covers size and material well. The rest needs an inspection.

  • Size. Roofs are measured in squares of 100 square feet. More squares mean more material and labor.
  • Pitch. A steeper roof is slower and harder to work on safely, which adds labor.
  • Material. Shingle, concrete tile, clay tile, metal and foam all cost different amounts to buy and install.
  • Tear-off layers. Removing one old layer is less work than removing two. On tile roofs, the tiles may come off and go back on over new underlayment.
  • Decking repairs. Rotted or damaged boards found under the old roof must be replaced before the new roof goes on.
  • Access. Tight lots, tall homes, pools and landscaping near the house can slow down loading and cleanup.

Why is the online estimate a range?

The online estimate is a range because the tool can measure your roof and price your material, but it cannot climb on the roof. It does not know how many layers are up there, what the decking looks like or how hard the site is to reach. The range covers the typical spread for roofs like yours.

Treat the low end as a well-maintained roof with easy access and the high end as a roof with more labor involved. Your real price lands once those unknowns are checked.

How do you get an exact roof quote?

To get an exact roof quote, schedule an in-person inspection with Icon Roofing. A roof advisor measures the roof, checks the pitch, decking and existing layers, looks at access and photographs any damage. You get a written estimate for the actual scope of work, not a planning range.

Start with an in-person home roof inspection, or read about what a full roof replacement involves. If the number is more than you can pay at once, monthly roof payments with Wisetack lets you prequalify online. Call (480) 427-7600, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

About the estimator

Still unsure? Call (480) 427-7600 and a roof advisor will walk you through it.

How accurate is the online roof estimate?

The estimator is close enough to plan a budget, but it is not a final price. It estimates your roof size from your home's square footage and pitch, then applies typical costs for the material you pick. It cannot see the decking, the layers of old roofing or hidden damage. An in-person inspection fills in those details and gives you the exact quote.

Does the estimator measure my roof size?

Yes. The estimator sizes your roof from your living area and adds the garage, porches and overhangs. That number is usually much larger than your home's living space, often close to double. A roof advisor verifies the measurement on site, since covered patios, additions and complex roof lines can change the final count of squares.

Does the online estimate include decking repairs?

No. The estimator cannot see under your existing roof, so it does not include rotted or damaged decking. That damage only shows up during an inspection or once the old roofing comes off. Your written proposal from Icon Roofing explains how decking repairs are handled if the crew finds soft or rotted boards during the job.

Does using the estimator commit me to anything?

No. The estimator is a free planning tool. You can try different materials, compare the ranges and use the numbers to plan your budget or a financing application. When you are ready for an exact price, schedule an in-person inspection with Icon Roofing and you will get a written estimate for your roof.
