Who is Zac Payne?

Zac Payne is the founder of Icon Roofing, a family-owned roofing company in Mesa, Arizona. He spent 8 years working in the roofing industry before starting Icon Roofing. Today he leads a team that inspects, repairs and replaces roofs on homes, multi-family communities and light commercial buildings across Metro Phoenix.

Zac and his wife, Blakely, live in North Mesa with their four kids and their Australian shepherd, Koda. When he is off the roof, he plays golf, softball and lacrosse.

Why did Zac start Icon Roofing?

Zac started Icon Roofing because his years in the industry showed him the customer experience could be better. Too many homeowners dealt with pushy salespeople, unclear bids and pressure to buy more roof than they needed. He built Icon Roofing to be more honest, more transparent and focused on long-term value.

That approach became The Icon Way: competitive pricing, quality materials, a satisfaction guarantee, and warranties on both craftsmanship and materials. Under Zac’s leadership, Icon Roofing earned GAF Master Elite certification, a standard GAF says roughly the top 2% of its contractors hold.

What does Zac write about?

Zac writes about the roofing questions Valley homeowners and property managers ask most. His guides cover how Arizona heat, UV and monsoon storms wear down roofs, when to repair instead of replace, how to handle a roof insurance claim and how to keep multi-family roofs in good shape. Every article is written for owners, not other roofers.
