Roof Repairs for Tile, Shingle, Foam and Metal Roofs

Icon Roofing repairs leaks, cracked tiles, missing shingles, foam blisters and loose metal panels on homes across Mesa and Metro Phoenix. A repair makes sense when the damage is limited and the rest of the roof is sound. We inspect the whole roof first, then explain what needs fixing now and what can wait.

What to know first

  1. We trace the leak

Water often enters far from the ceiling stain. We follow it back to the flashing, vent or underlayment that actually failed.

  2. Matched materials

Repairs use tile, shingle, foam and metal that match your roof, so the patch sheds water like the rest of it.

  3. Photos of the work

You see the damage before we start and the finished repair before we leave.

  4. Honest repair or replace advice

If a repair will not hold, we tell you and explain why, with photos.

What roof repairs does Icon Roofing handle?

Icon Roofing repairs the four roof types most common on Metro Phoenix homes: concrete and clay tile, asphalt shingle, flat foam and metal. We also repair storm damage from monsoon wind, rain and hail. Every repair starts with an inspection, so we fix the cause of the problem and not only the spot where it shows.

How do you know a roof repair will last?

A repair lasts when it fixes the cause, not only the drip. That means finding where water actually gets in, which is often a flashing, a vent boot or worn underlayment some distance from the ceiling stain. A lasting repair also uses matching material, so the patched area sheds water the same way as the rest.

Quick fixes fail in Arizona because the heat finds them. Roof cement smeared over a cracked tile or a gap in flashing dries out and cracks within a few summers. We replace the failed part instead of covering it up.

What roof problems are most common in Arizona?

The most common problems follow the roof type. Tile roofs leak when the underlayment under the tiles wears out. Shingle roofs lose granules and lift in wind. Foam roofs blister and crack once the coating wears thin. Metal roofs leak at loose fasteners, open seams and dried-out sealant around penetrations.

Roof type What usually fails Typical repair
Concrete or clay tile Underlayment, flashing, cracked or slipped tiles Lift tiles, replace underlayment in the area, relay or replace tiles
Asphalt shingle Lifted tabs, granule loss, vent boots, flashing Replace damaged shingles, reseal or replace flashing and boots
Flat foam Coating wear, blisters, cracks, ponding Cut out damage, fill with foam, recoat
Metal Fasteners, seams, sealant, rust spots Replace fasteners, reseal seams, treat and coat rust

When is a repair no longer worth it?

A repair stops making sense when you are paying for the same kind of fix every year, when damage covers large sections of the roof, or when the material is near the end of its life. At that point, the money you put into repairs is better spent on a new roof.

We tell you when we think you have reached that point, and we show you why with photos. If you are still on the fence, we explain what the next few years of repairs are likely to look like next to the cost of replacing the whole roof. The choice stays yours. Many homeowners repair now and plan a replacement for a later year.

What happens after you call for a repair?

After you call, we set a time to inspect the roof, find the source of the problem and photograph it. You get a written estimate that says what we will fix and what it costs. Once you approve it, our crew does the repair, cleans up, and checks the finished work before we leave.

Most repairs on a single area take one visit. Larger jobs, like replacing underlayment under a section of tile, can take a few days. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. If you have damage from a storm, book early in the season. Calls pick up quickly after the first big monsoon.

Can insurance or financing help pay for a repair?

Yes. If a storm caused the damage, your homeowners policy may cover the repair, minus your deductible. If the damage comes from age or wear, financing can spread the cost into monthly payments. Icon Roofing works with Wisetack for financing, and you can prequalify online before you commit to anything.

Where does Icon Roofing do roof repairs?

We repair roofs across Metro Phoenix from our office in Mesa. Most of our repair calls come from the East Valley, including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek. We also work regularly in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and the West Valley. Each area has its own mix of tile, shingle and foam roofs.

Older Phoenix and Tempe neighborhoods have more flat and foam roofs. Scottsdale and Paradise Valley lean toward tile. Newer Gilbert and Queen Creek subdivisions have a lot of shingle and concrete tile. See roof repair and replacement in Mesa for our home city, or browse every city Icon Roofing serves.

Roof Repairs questions

Still unsure? Call (480) 427-7600 and a roof advisor will walk you through it.

How do I know if my roof leak is a small repair?

A single stain near a vent, chimney or skylight often points to one failed flashing or boot, which is usually a small repair. Stains in several rooms, sagging drywall or a soft roof surface suggest the problem is wider. The only way to know is to have the roof walked and the leak traced back to where water gets in.

Should I fix my roof before monsoon season?

Yes, if you can. Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30, and its downburst winds and heavy rain find every weak spot. Fixing cracked tiles, lifted shingles or worn foam coating in spring is easier to schedule and keeps a small problem from turning into interior water damage during the first big storm.

Can you repair a roof another company installed?

Yes. Icon Roofing repairs roofs no matter who installed them. We inspect the area, check how the original work was done, and fix it with matching materials. If we find installation problems that will keep causing leaks, we show you the photos and explain your options before we do any work.

Will my homeowners insurance pay for a roof repair?

It depends on the cause. Insurance often covers sudden damage, like wind tearing off shingles or hail cracking tiles. It usually does not cover wear from age and sun. If a storm caused the damage, take photos, call us for an inspection, and read our insurance claim guide before you file.
